Gulp!
I kept hearing about this, and getting sent this. I’m glad I did!
I LOVE the discussion on films, and bell saying ALL of it is fantasy! Hmm…….
YES! I’m glad it’s replacing “Lost in Space,” which will move to midnight, booting out “Voyage.” It will make ME-TV’s “Sci-Fi Saturday” much more watchable.
Wow! Records broken all over the place, around the world!
Guess I’ll just have to accept that in 2013, my favorite things—Marvel comics suphereroes and “Doctor Who”—have to be shared with, well, everyone! LOL! 🙂
And it goes without saying that I LOVED the “movie!”
……I actually bought tickets for BOTH 3D theatre screenings of something that will be online illegally five hours after it first airs (in a worldwide simulcast!). 🙂
…and it’s standard Gates stuff. Politely dismissing all radical Black perspectives, especially worldwide-influenced Black nationalism and socialism, etc.
This one I’ve liked the most (I was happy to finally see Black media history integrated into the Black American history narrative), but how he dismisses Robeson says it all. He tries to make up for it on the website, I see.
When “Like It Is” is finally archived, we’ll have a very good counterpoint to this six-part essay.
NOVEMBER 21st UPDATE: And, an update and commentary.
…..and I agree with a lot of this analysis. What is this show, exactly? An Americanized version of “Torchwood?” A spy show? A procedural? All of the above?
I respect that Joss Whedon is too much a deity to turn this into a Marvel character showcase, but why the hell not?!? I mean, they find a way to mention events from “The Avengers” (or “Iron Man 3”) EVERY week!
(And yes, I believe the fanboys and fangirls on the Web: the “new” Coulson is a LMD! And yes, it is much better than what I taped off of TV in 1998! LOL! :))
