Arsenio Calls ‘Em Out! (And He Should Have!) LOL! (And Why Was The First “Arsenio” Cancelled?)

NOTE: It’s a common urban legend that Arsenio got thrown off the air for having Minister Farrakhan on the first incarceration of his show. I know a different version that I remember reading (but not where): In the version I remember, Arsenio’s popularity came from CBS affiliates using him instead of Pat Sajak. When David Letterman signed his now-famous deal, the affiliates let Arsenio know he was going to be kicked off soon. So Arsenio’s show was, in effect, cancelled a year in advance. That gave him the freedom to put Farrakhan on. This article says kinda what I remember reading.

And here’s something not-completely-unrelated to remember, as Arsenio fights the second time around ( 🙂 ).

What I Liked Best About Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” Premiere

Enjoyed this bit! (Especially :52 to 1:04 and the Colbert show-stopper!) LOL! 🙂

NOTE: I thought his college-professor-giving-out-the-syllabus intro to Middle America below (“I have real, average parents, the Roots is a great house band that can handle Tony Bennett,” etc.) was kinda smart. He needs some of the old audience.

NOT Obsessed With PBS’ “Sherlock” ;)

Yes, the end of Season Three–my first!–was amazing. If, just a month ago, you would have told me that I would be fiending for a Sherlock Holmes drama, I would have laughed in your face. But I didn’t know then that the show was done by the “Doctor Who” folks.

My favorite moment of Season Two:

My second-favorite moment of Season Two (unfortunately, in fragments):

My favorite moment of Season Three:

(Not-Irrelevant-Aside: The Christmas Mini-Episode Between Seasons 2 and 3:)

So the long wait for Season Four begins. Now I know what my friends who are “Boardwalk Empire” and “Mad Men” fans go through!

At least I have an entire season, Season Two, left to watch in order to catch up. And this, which I ignored when it aired in mid-December.

And now, some goofiness:

Sesame Street!

And there was no way some fanboy wasn’t going to do the digital mashup below. (It has more than two million hits.) The Doctor looks like he’s in love with Sherlock, but originally he was seducing a brand-new, young, attractive female potential companion (which, if you watch “Doctor Who,” is not actually as creepy as it probably reads 🙂 ).
