#CBS #CBSNews #CBSFaceTheNation: #PBS Director #KenBurns says the #AmericanRevolution (his new documentary film #TheAmericanRevolution comes out in November) was a “civil war” that became a “world war”

# KenBurns is a master of presenting #Americana in a way that conservatives can swallow (if they choose to) and liberals can see the contradictions they know.

  1. We can expect the Ken Burns treatment of history: reinforcing American values (conservative) and exposing human rights violations (Native American relations/lies/domination, beginning of slavery) as very sad, borderline-angry circumstance (liberal). In later docs, he allows more anger–particularly when the topic is Black (Jack Johnson, Ali, Jackie Robinson)–but I think he’s gonna revert to original form on this one in this climate.

    • Yo! Your work needs to be highlighted and discussed more. Think I will do something about this.

  2. THANKS! Pioneering works–particuarly qualitative with little theory–get quickly forgotten, even if seminal became seminal can change with the next release.

  3. Burns says…

“The most important event since the birth of Christ in world history.”

    White boy, please!
