Dyson as Ying, Williams As Yang

Just checked out this past weekend’s C-SPAN 2 “Book TV”‘s “Afterwords” online. Wanted to see Michael Eric Dyson interview Juan Williams about Black leadership. I thought it was a good conversation—very yin-yang. Check it out here (scroll down; it’s at the bottom).

  1. juan is a fraud and i select that term intentionally. he shows no signs of having read the people he continues to reference which makes him a fraud, liar or both. he quotes the second most referenced phrase from DuBois (20th century color line… yawn, 1903 says juan — of course, this is second to double consciousness…. yawn…) and then distinguishes him from cosby because the latter is addressing today’s “class” issues!?!?!?!?! right, clearly dubois never touched class as an issue!! jesus christ. what im not hearing is a proper distinction being made from how these men (and others) approached the issue, one attacked the elite (WE B) and one attacks the poor (hey-hey-hey!) and juan keeps trying to attach the latter to the legacy of the former. this is fraudulent, ignorant and/or plain lying so he can keep getting murdoch’s paychecks.
